LEAD's first income...

Hello friends…

This is to share some very exciting & encouraging news with all of you…

Last Friday i.e on 27th March, one of our volunteers Richa visited my college – Vidyalankar Institute of Technology in Wadala as a guest speaker from an NGO to deliver a speech on Women Empowerment.

Sounds strange, doesn’t it?

Actually, a couple of professors Mrs,Ujwala & Mrs. Sanjila who are part of the Women Development Cell in our college wanted to enliven this almost inactive group through such an initiative. So, they insisted me to ask one of our lady volunteers to take up this opportunity. I requested them to invite a more relevant person from some women-focused NGO. However, they explained that the actual motive for involving LEAD in this event was to financially support us indirectly. The college had planned to handover Rs.500/- as token of love to the guest speaker & they (the 2 professors) eagerly wanted to pass on this amount to the real needy. I immediately grabbed up this opportunity, thinking either Nazia or Richa (both of them being proficient teachers) will easily handle this, of course we will be assisting in the preparation. Richa took up this challenge. I promised to help her in getting the material but unfortunately couldn’t do so till the D-Day. She had already prepared around some good women centric issues like discrimination, dowry, eve-teasing, laws & acts governing them etc... However as she was worried about the short span of her speech. Thanks to some of my efforts in scanning the daily digests of Karmayog & copy-pasting some of the valuable stuffs from them. I rushed in to her home on Friday morning & helped her in making a small ppt for the same. Nicely we could add up to about 15 slides with strong supporting speech. She came to Wadala all the way from Airoli in this scorching heat & confidently delivered a fantastic speech to the audience comprising aver 50 students & 10-15 professors. It was really awesome! Her voice-modulation, flow of words, tone , fluency, etc were in perfect synchronization. The principal too was really impressed. Most of the students were noting down almost all the details from the slides. Some of the things that, I feel, are really noteworthy :

1) Richa confidently decided to tread into this unmarched territory & even succeeded in it.

2) The information that we delivered to the audience was really valuable & commendable considering the short span of time & the range of issues. Plz do have a look at the ppt (5 minutes).

3) Karmayog has again inadvertantly supported LEAD, this time through its daily digests content. Zillions of thanks to Vinay & Karmayog.
4) This is the LEAD's first earning of its own to meet its expenses.
5) The real icing on the cake is that We found two notes of Rs.500/- in the gift envelope ;-) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This further reconfirms my belief that -- Where there is will, there is a way...
Take up the challenges.. theres always some one behind you to support you...

  1. Thanks a lot rupesh for all the appreciation. but let me tell u...

firstly and frankly.. this was the first time in my life that i have ever given a speech in front of so many people [all of them unknown - obviously except rupesh].. earlier i have particiaped in speech competitions, but they were in school or My college or My japanese institute....

the main credit behind taking up the challenge goes to OUR cute kids - maruti, mhasoba, anil, sunil, anjali, shyamsunder, ghanshyam... - i love them all... they are all so nice and deserving that i always feel that I MUST DO SOMETHING for them. Also of course, devesh. I know that he will always be there to support me in whatever i do. And this is how i agreed to give a speech without much thinking on it...

Also, most important is the help that rupesh gave me on the day of the speech. He came to my place at about 9:00 am prepared a ppt and that gave me a further booster... i knew that now i just had to TALK... the earlier night devesh had helped me a lot with whatever i cud speak on issues like dowry, sex discrimination, eve-teasing, etc. So I had all the material ready with me.

Also, when i went to the college, rupesh made me feel very comfortable.. he arranged a lap-top from somewhere [so that i cud refer to the ppt while talking]. The staff too was very co-operative. So.. ALL OF THESE made it very easy for me to deliver the speech as i did. [i must admit that i was very much scared when i entered the college premises, but thanks to rupesh... he helped me a lot]

so I thank you all in making this event a success.... also thanks to arun and kailash for appreciating my efforts.

    I love u all...
