Sector-3 slams & stuns LEAD

Hi friends

yesterday night again I headed for our new Sector-3 families & was stunned by some of the following incidents:

1) There is a family with 2 children --- Reshma(10 yrs),Mukesh (12)..

I talked to the mother for about 40 minutes …..This family is staying here since past 6 years!!! Meanwhile Mukesh used to attend the non-formal classes in the nearby Mother Teresa Church/orphanage.... he did this for almost 4 years. .. Noting his extra-ordinary brilliance , he was admitted to a private Marathi medium school in Airoli (I forgot the name)...The family being unable to afford the fees of rs.2000/- , the church authority paid rs.1000/- as a scholarship. The school wanted to enrll him in Class-I but he insisted for higher class & took the challenge of an exam before admission. He cleared it & to everyone;'s surprsise was admitted to Class-IV immidiately..... I can bet for him as I too have wirtnessed his sharp mind-power when he spelt the names of all the 12 months in one shot without any mistake...

Unfortunately, he got ill due to the bad company (He used to spend most of the time near gutters) in the absence of their parents... Then later he stopped going to school...
As I mentioned in my previous email, Rumours are that he is addicted to Whitener-- a kind of drugs ---
Even some nearby people have reported about this .. this is mainly due to his bad company with 2 other street chilren....

I tried to convince him a lot to loop him with us.. but in vain....

Our Aim : Get him admitted back to his school after counselling him regularly & talking to the school authorities about all this & us...
He may not come, so we need to go to him, talk to him & get him regularly..........

So keep this in mind, next time you go to Airoli....

2) Even Reshma's case is bit similar.. She too used to go to the church & they admitted her to the school but she discontinued....
But she has joined us & is very happy now...
We need to work out her school stuff too...

Since her English is bit good....
We can admit her in pvt English Medium along with Mukesh????

Questions for us....

1) Need to check their levels through personal care ( not along with other children)
2) Can we afford the pvt. English Medium school expenses ???

2) Laxmi, a 16 year old girl has just given birth to a girl child , a week back....

Take one more schock!!!

She is unmarried.... No traces of her fiancee now.....

Family is thinking of giving away the child to someone somewhere now....

Left dumb-struck on all these shocks, I now tried to counsel her ( Laxmi is more close to this family , though her parents stay in the same slums ) …

I talked to her about our plans for Vocational skills training course … so that she will be able to earn money for her & even her daughter…. Not to separate the mother & child & what all……..

While I was showing her this bright pictures, I could feel she was getting bit solace on our words…….

Then immediately came the next question that literally haunted me….

She said, “ some people here are saying that people like you come to us, play with the emotions of our children, take them for a ride & finally snatch & sell away their kidneys…. Some of them even take away the kids.. so they have to beware of us & not talk to us…. “

I was again stunned by this response…. My all efforts in counseling her were going in vain….

And to our another surprise, all these rubbish things were told to her by one of the families staying in the same slums….. Now I came to know why hey are not sending their son Pavan & neice Priya (Class-VI dropout) to us….

The situation is very gloomy…. Lot of ambiguities about us among some of these families….

Not only the cases of Laxmi & Mukesh , but we need to counsel the family of Pavan & Priya immediately unless other families too may fall prey to their beliefs….

While I was about to leave bit disappointed (but not disheartened), GAnesh again complained .. Sir, I told you na? Pavan & his mother keep telling us these bad things about you…

Sita gave a pat reply, “oos din madam ne kya bola yaad nahin kya??? Boora mat Dekho, boora mat bolo, boora mat soono”

So my dear friends, as I keep telling you, theres always a ray of hope whenever we are surrounded by dark clouds… Though some of these children have given us enough strength for the time being… but we need to immediately work out for these 3 families of Sector-3…..

Plesea remember the names & cases of these 3 families properly, next time you visit them in Sector-3….
