Acting Class starts in LEAD

Yes,....!!!

This too is one of the things that LEAD was yearning for since its inception....
Thanks to Mr. Sachin from Kalaakar Movement for turning this dream into a reality....

His 2 of the talented senior students began the first session on Friday 1st May at 3pm...Children , unaware of this surprise package, thronged in with their school bags & books ...;-)

The day began with 3 long Omkaars...followed by 2 prayers..one of them "Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu..."
Yes, there were some problems like yelling, giggling, not closing the eyes.. but the masters smartly handled the children...

Flexibility - this is what they started with - Neck & shoulder exercises, strange funny facial expressions...that all burst the lot into loads of laughter..

Then he picked up two of our children..Mallesh to play the obedient punctual school going child & Vinod-- the complete reverse...Being the first act, we indeed were surprised by the wonderful performance of Vinod...!!

Then came our hero- Ganesh !!
Just Awesome...!!! It hardly took any time for the masters to recognize the hidden talent in this boy...

The thing that came in handy for these acting-gurus were the 2 poems/songs taught by NHP school teachers that too with actions---
"Meri Mummy Kitni Acchhi..". & "Ek Sadak Pe Jaata ladkaa..."
That acted as a good icebreaker for them ... children were growing impatient for their turns to perform with this short & sweet poems...
2-3 groups -- one of Sita, Sunita, reshma & surekha while other of Musoba, Anil, Venkatesh cropped up performing these melodies ;-)
The moment any child erred in any of the actions, Ganesh pointed out immidiately, & then doing the right one...
He even sang two bollywood numbers.... his favourite 'Guzaarish' form Gajjini....
& the best part--- he even immitated the style of a South Indian star from one of the hit movies.... further thrilling the entire bunch .....

Then there were many such plays like --

1) Bhaaji waali bai played by Sunita & the customer played by Einnetti.... While Sunita faired out well., but Einnetti's hesitant performance could only inspire the teachers to ask Ganesh to repeat her role...
What a show--- Ganesh bargains with words like ," Kam kar yaar ... Mere ghar mein chhotte chotte bachchein hain... biwi raah dekh rahi hai..bhooki ..khaana banaane ke liye " .. & Sunita gave the finishing stroke seeing her customer, hurrying out with her vegetables, '"Arrey , Paisaa to De !!!!" ;-)))))))))))

2) Chor played by Raju & Police wala -- again our hero Ganesh -- Ganesh giving a good stick on chor's butt , checking all the purses , while Raju did the final stint saying, "Arrey, yeh to mera purse hai !!" ;-)

3) Then there was a bus play - Anil (driver), Ganesh(conductor) & Vinod (passenger) performing a good stint again... here, Anil drove the crowd crazy by driving away the bus making sound while Ganesh & Vinod still pretending to be in the bus...

the teachers even enacted the plays before them so as to learn the skills of facing the audience, voice modulation, facial expressions, no laughing while acting etc... & our children really rewarded them with huge applause....!!!

But our all the Girls were too shy in turning up..... ;-(

Next day too, being saturday I got the opportunity to be in this class...
Believe me, the beginning-- Omkaaar & Prayer sessions --went much smoother now....!!! I feel, all of us should begin our class with these 2 important things... I have already started this.. ..

This day too some good hints & plays but they also played dumb-shiraaz making boys & girls team...
Again a good way of teaching discipline by the teachers-- every time any of the participant shouted the answer instead of raising his hand--- that team got the negative marking ----And slowly slowly, both the teams got the taste of punishment for indiscipline....

There are many lessons for all of to learn from all this --- There are many ways by which we can teach them discipline --- Its completely upon us -- How serious we are in this stuff--- How planned we go in tackling this demon ---!!!!!
In fact, I have even instructed them that we are observing every child's behavior& the defaulters would be punished by not allowing them to participate in games on Sunday.... And some of them have started reacting positively to this....

Remember team-- one person's Passiveness towards this discipline issue can spoil the entire team's efforts towards handling this... Hope all of us will understand , cooperate & act accordingly......!!!!

Do watch out the snaps in this link-- & if time permits be a part of this fun ride someday --
